A Large Longquan Molded Dish
Early Ming Dynasty, 14th Century
Height: 7 cm
Diameter: 35.5 cm
The large stoneware dish has a broad inner center decorated with a molded closed lotus bud within double line borders. The fluted well is divided into nine sections rising to a petal shape rim at the edge. Nine open lotus flowers decorate the fluted well. The underside of the dish is similarly fluted and decorated.
A lustrous and unctuous plum green glaze covers the entire dish except for a wide irregular unglazed band on the base revealing the remains of the kiln support, and burn orange in firing.
